Beautiful Backyard Wedding Highlights- Finch Arboretum Wedding Photos - Shon & Sara
I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding for Sara and Shon this last summer. The couple approached me and told me that they intended to get married in their own backyard. They asked me if I had any tips or thoughts on having it in their backyard so I gave them a few that proved very useful for their day. Their wedding ceremony and reception area they made was incredible! In fact, I would say it was even better than many venues in the Spokane area.
The couple booked me for my Standard package which includes all day coverage (no time limitations) and I started the day with some detail photos.
Afterward, I moved indoors to get photos of everyone getting ready. The lighting in the house was incredible and in rooms that were darker, I resorted to using flash photography which still looked like natural, beautiful light.
Next, we headed to Finch Arboretum for their first look and to take some couple’s photos in the area afterward. There was no-one in the park which was perfect.
After taking couple’s photos, we headed back to their house to get some family photos.
And then it was time for the ceremony! They did an amazing job on placement, having the sun behind the archway and in the shade for the best lighting. When in our consultation they asked me about this and I gave them my advice which they heeded and it paid off!
Right after the ceremony the couple went indoors to celebrate with family before heading back out to their reception to eat and carry on with the festivities. It was an incredible evening full of laughter and amazing moments. At the end of the night the couple informed me that they wanted to do a sparkler send-off so I set everything up and the photos from that turned out incredible!
I love when couples ask questions and look for advice for photos. I have a lot of experience that, when used to create a venue or photos in general, result in great lighting and photos when couples are open to ideas. I have had the opportunity to do this a few times with amazing results. Sara and Shon loved their wedding photos and Sara even left me a review later on saying,
“Zach was very pleasant to work throughout the entire process before and after our wedding. Never once did we doubt he knew what he was doing or if we’d get good pictures.
