Andrew + Rebekkah - Engagement Photos in the Palouse
This summer, Andrew and Rebekkah approached me and asked if I had any recommendations on location for their engagement photos. I told them that they had two options. One was safe and the other was some place I had always wanted to shoot but never found a couple who wanted to as it was more of an “unknown”. I told them that I had always wanted to photograph a couple in the Palouse and that I had a couple secret spots that were incredible where I could guarantee no one had taken photos before. I told them that they would very likely come away with photos that would be amazing but that there would be a good bit of driving involved. Lucky for us all, they took me up on the offer.
We drove south along the Pullman-Spokane Highway to my first location, a beautiful barley field with one of the most unique trees of the Palouse in the middle of it. We arrived at the perfect time as the sun was beginning to drop behind the hill that was there.
After the sun dipped behind the hill, we quickly made our way to the top of Steptoe Butte to catch sunset. The view from the top is always amazing but the view does not always translate well in photos. I think that this time however, the photos turned out great. Andrew also wanted photos with his truck so we made sure to get some with that as well.
We all had a great time driving around and they told me that they were so glad they took me up on the offer. For any of you reading this who are hiring me to be your wedding photographer, I always have ideas on incredible places I would love to go so feel free to ask. As I always tell people that with new ideas, there is a good chance the photos will be incredible and a small chance they will still be good. I have never had a creative idea that was a complete bust.
