Lake Diablo Elopement - Audrey & Robert

This summer, I had the opportunity to photograph an elopement in the North Cascades at Lake Diablo. I absolutely love when I get to take outdoor elopement photos in the North Cascades so I was beyond excited when Audrey and Robert contacted me to capture their photos. They decided to get ready in some really cool cabin AirBnbs in Winthrop.

They wanted to have their first looks just outside the cabins before we headed up to Lake Diablo.

Afterward we made our way up to Washington pass but had to stop for an hour on the road for a wildfire that had started to spread. This did not keep us from getting some amazing photos while we were waiting though. When the traffic was allowed to move through, we made our way up into the pass and stopped for some photos at the overlook.

Then we made our way to Lake Diablo for the ceremony. The sun was about 15 minutes from setting but the ceremony was perfect length to accommodate (literally, the sun set seconds after their first kiss).

After their ceremony (like seconds after) I snapped a few photos before the sun set below the mountains. We then moved a bit along the overlook and got some of the last light hitting the mountains in the background. We got some amazing couple’s photos and some great ones of the friends and family who could attend their elopement. The couple also had an exciting announcement; they were pregnant! So we made sure to get some great photos for that as well for them to share.

Elopements are always some of my favorite things to photograph and this elopement was one of the most memorable ones to date. There were a lot of curveballs thrown into the “timeline” with the wildfire and road closures but we made due with what we had and luck was certainly in our favor. This couple was amazing and I am very excited for what their future holds together. After the elopement, Audrey wrote me a review saying:

“Let me just start off by saying that Zach is a rockstar at his craft! He is extremely professional, caring, detail-oriented, and talented! We wanted a mountain elopement and we got far more than we could have ever imagined! Our photos are out of a fairy tale! I can't even begin to tell you how many people said our photos were breathtaking! Zach is worth every penny! His photography will not only last a lifetime, but will make you so happy!
